Fables from Aesop

Abstract
Here is the seller's description: "Thought to be around 1910, collection of 12 fables with fine colour lithographic plates throughout. Original cloth spine and pictorial boards good with a little general wear and rubbing. Contents clean and tight, missing title page, tape marks from repair to front hinge, no inscriptions, a little dust soiled, no foxing. A very good copy with superb illustrations. Size: 8vo." I confirm that the eleven duochrome (green and brown) illustrations are very well done. Red, black, and blue CP on the cover. It turns out that this book is a rendition in smaller format (6½" x 8") of an edition published by Henry Frowde and Hodder and Stoughton in about 1908. Though the texts are the same as in that larger edition, the typeface is different. I am proud that detective work on the initials of the artist led me to identifying the work of Percy Billinghurst, and I was able to go from there to find this larger edition in our collection. The front cover here shows CP, while that larger edition has a fox reading a book.
