Assessing Team-Teaching Effectiveness on the Circular Model of Collegiate Co-Teaching (poster 22)

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Department of Occupational Therapy at Creighton University has recently transitioned to a team teaching model for faculty to collaboratively design, instruct, and manage courses across the existing curriculum, assigning one or more co-instructors per course with anticipated benefits in the workflow, student learning experience, and economic outcomes.In efforts to collect baseline data, monitor differences in outcomes, and identify opportunities for improvement in team-based teaching, a task force has been formed to develop an assessment tool and plan that can holistically measure team-teaching effectiveness. The poster will illustrate the development of a survey tool that was created based on the Circular Model of Collegiate Co-Teaching (Morelocket al., 2017)to assess the state of how team-teaching has manifested in the program in terms of co-educator experiences and perceptions, modes of delivery and collaboration, and perceived advantages and disadvantages.
