Abstract
Background:
To accommodate more individuals in a changing student population, distance education has been on the rise at the postsecondary level.
71% of academic leaders believe student learning outcomes in online education are the same or superior to outcomes in traditional education, an increase from only 57% in 2012.
Research literature concerning student learning outcomes in hybrid programs in health professions is limited.
This study expands upon a recent study by Mu, Coppard, Bracciano, and Bradberry (2014) which revealed no significant differences on most graduate outcomes.
The current study includes an increased sample size, an additional hybrid pathway, and examination of professional behavior and communication outcomes. Additionally, a revised curriculum was implemented since the 2014 study.
