Abstract

There are four fables in this reader. MSA (10) is well told and features a good black-and-white illustration of the donkey swinging crosswise from a pole. TMCM (42) is told in a version very close to Jacobs' and offers nice but small illustrations. King Tawny Mane (92) is the eastern fable of the lion and rabbit, complete with the well into which the lion jumps. The Hare with Many Friends (150) is also included, with one image. The good copy has E.P. 3 on the back of the title-page, while the three extra copies have different W.P. numbers there (36, 70, and 77). This reader is of course a part of a set of eight.
