Abstract

This second volume was highly praised by T.F. Crane in his review in "Modern Language Notes" No. 40. The book deals with the additions of later editors, translators, and notes. Aesop makes a few appearances, notably in #743, 744, and 745. The stories here are numbered from #694 through 878. Bolte provides a T of C for a number of later editions of Pauli's stories and a register of the six major editions with respect to their numbering of stories. Comments make up a great part of this volume, pp. 245-446. The comments are rich in tracking sources, including Aesop, Luther, Hans Sachs, La Fontaine, and others for the fables. 512 pages total in this volume.
