Abstract

I have not taken the occasion to walk through the Hitopadesa again in this translation. Three things strike me about this book. First, it has a number of uncut pages, including some of the T of C. I have "cheated" to see that it includes the usual four chapters of the work. Secondly, it contains, from my perusal, the very frequent quotations and citations in the text, here nicely highlighted in italics. These continue to make it hard for me to follow the "story itself." There is surely a cultural difference at work here. The third feature of the book is the beautifully embossed cloth cover. Does the symbol here, including a dragon and lion, stand for "The Treasure House of Eastern Story"?
