Abstract
I ordered this book because it advertised "ageless fables." It does include great stories, but I count only one of them as a fable, and it happens to be the one pictured on the cover and quoted on the back cover: "The Emperor's New Clothes" (173). The full-page version of the cover's cameo illustration introduces the story there. As the beginning T of C shows, each month has one or two stories. Then there is a reflection based on the story for each day of the month. The cover advertises the book as "twelve-step messages for the child in each of us." The last of the 431 pages relate specific reflections to particular steps among the twelve, suggest further reading, and offer an index of themes handled in the reflections.
