Abstract
"Brothers and Sisters we are the circumcision"; this seems to be an odd opening statement until you consider the word "circumcision" as being symbolic for people who have a faith in God and in the teachings of Jesus. We, who have faith in God and in the word shared in the Gospel messages look to the life of Jesus; the love shared, parables used to teach and the inspired hope. If we follow His message of living our lives with an open and loving heart we are members of a greater community of Christians, we the circumcision. " . . . although I myself have grounds for confidence even in the flesh" As Brothers and Sisters converted to the Christian Church in the past and even today it has been through the actions, and teaching of people - "the human flesh" - that has strengthened and helped the church grow in membership and personal faith lives.|This first reading reminds us to separate ourselves from earthly treasures, and even laws if they are contrary to the expectations of Christ. All of us need to reflect upon what loving our fellow human being means and how we can each practice loving others with a generous heart that is not controlled by "laws" but rather controlled by "love". We, who may ask the question, "What would Jesus do?" will find joy in the search for truth, honesty, respect and then direction as we discern how we are to live our lives and be in relationship with others, Christian or non Christian.|Finally, the Gospel today made me reflect upon the human "fear" of those who think differently than we might. Maybe by loving and trying to understand "their" meaning(s) in life we ultimately come to know and understand our own spirituality and beliefs, coming away with a greater appreciation of our own faith life and relationship with God. The Parables, suggest that we care for and communicate with others who are not active members of our Christian Faith communities. We live the Gospel message by extending a loving concern, and support for people who have not embraced "the good news" found in the life and examples of Jesus Christ, "Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep." What an awesome experience to be able to love and lead others to embrace the Gospel by living and sharing the Gospel messages with other Christians and with non-Christians. This is the message today- live and love, care for others, participate in sharing truth, pursuing justice and share the Gospel messages.
