FIRST PARAGRAPH(S)|In Trimble v. Gordon the United States Supreme Court held that a probate statute which excluded an illegitimate child as an heir of its father violated the equal protection clause of the fourteenth amendment by discriminating invidiously against illegitimates. In Trimble, the Court clarified its present attitude toward illegitimacy classifications and substantially strengthened the equal protection standard of review in this area.
