This is a very nice little academic paperback book of 152 pages. I look forward to retirement as a time to get to know Der Stricker better. For now I read his fables aloud and they make more sense when I hear them than when I see them. What fun! As the beginning T of C here shows, there are 22 fables and another 11 Mären. The difference is immediately clear to a reader because the stories get so much longer one we move from one group to the other. Someone underlined the key words in the preface. That will be a help! As friends remind me, who else in the world looks forward to reading Der Stricker in retirement?!
