Abstract

On Saturday, week ending February 16, 1947, we operated one table in the Sausage Manufacturing Department and only brought out sufficient employees in the Sausage Chill Room to supply product for this gang. John Newberger, No. 6151, chopper, seniority date April 20, 1925, and Melvin McGinnis, gang leader, No. 6126, seniority date April 10, 1931, were called out on date in question to operate chopper and scale meat required to conduct necessary operations. John Grecu, No. 6147, is unable to do the chopping operation and it was not possible to use him on the combination set up because of his inability to do the chopper work. In addition, McGinnis operated grinder to produce a load of pork sausage wanted by the Sausage Packing Department, which amounted to less than 1/2 hour's work. It was not necessary to call Peter Petersen, No. 6108, seniority date April 26, 1940, out to take care of this small amount of work. When necessary to call out small gangs, as in this case, we will equalize the work by rotating the employees according to seniority as nearly as it is possible to do so. As to Dewey Kramolisch, Nor 6089, four men. Frank Sekera, Dewey Kramolisch, Majk Obrad and Anton Calta, handle the work of washing smoke houses which is usually performed on Sunday. On this particular Sunday Obrad and Kramolisch worked; Sekera and Calta work the alternate Sundays. Must decline request.
