FIRST PARAGRAPH(S)|During the survey period, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit adjudicated many commercial law cases. In this second part of the commercial law survey, cases in the areas of banking, contracts, and foreclosures will be analyzed.|The marble-pillared building is no longer the symbol of banking in the United States. Banks have changed during the past few years. The era of electronic banking is upon us. The public has been deluged with a variety of new electronic fund transfer machines (EFTs). These systems have been called automated teller machines, customer bank communication terminals, place-of-business terminals, point-of-sale terminals, remote savings units, and transmatic money service. These devices allow bank customers to obtain access to their account records and small sums of money, even though they are miles away from the main bank itself. They may be located in supermarkets, shopping centers, or other places where people congregate.
