Abstract
INTRODUCTION|In 2008, the domestic economy of the United States experienced a severe downturn, prompted by a liquidity crisis triggered by a proliferation of non-performing mortgages. This so-called "economic meltdown" devastated the finances of the nation. Thousands of homeowners found themselves evicted from their residences. Unemployment floated into double-digits. Stock market valuations declined dramatically.
