Abstract

Here is a curious find. It is a pamphlet of 20 pages, 8¼" x 10½". It presents ten La Fontaine fables with lovely two-colored illustrations. Each fable illustration is a full left-hand page in two colors. The right-hand page begins the text with an exquisite initial. The booklet with its one staple at the center is well worn. The colors are strong and the designs even stronger. To my surprise, one of them -- FS in purple and black -- shows up on Pinterest as a fabric pattern. That is the only clue I can find to Roullier. The only clue to Senefo is an Etsy offer of a children's booklet dated to the 1930's. OF in green is on the cover. Other fables presented include MM; TT; WL; TH; LM; "Le Laboureur et ses Enfants"; OF in blue; "Le chat, la Belette et le petit Lapin"; "Les Voleurs et l'Âne"; and FC. There is a last little design of MM on the back cover.
