Abstract
Here is one of five remarkable little (4 x 5½) eight-page pamphlets I have found celebrating the centennial of the death of Krylov. After some introductory prose, The Elephant and the Pug-Dog begins on 4 with the first of four black-and-white illustrations. The illustrations look as though they may have come from an animated film. The pug barks at and challenges the elephant, confident that the elephant will not take his attack seriously. The pug risks nothing and gains a lot! How remarkable to find something produced in Moscow in 1944! I can find no indication of the visual artist.
