INTRODUCTION
Seventy-one sentenced misdemeanants incarcerated in November- December, 1974 were the subject of this study. Three questions raised about misdemeanants inmates were built into a 22-page survey of the inmate population. The questions were: (1) Who are the sentenced misdemeanants of Douglas County? What are their demographic characteristics? (2) What are the kinds and extent of their legal problems? (3) As consumers within the legal system, what are the inmates' attitudes toward and perceptions about lawyers and the legal system?
