Abstract
There Is a call from Catholic educational leaders for more research study of the problems peculiar to Catholic secondary education. The solution at any educational problem involves its consideration from an historical point of view. It follows that any system of schools really desiring to make worthy contributions toward the solution of educational problems must keep a record of its own growth and development. It is with this conviction that the present work has been undertaken.
The purpose of this study is to collect and preserve historical Information regarding the foundations and development of the secondary schools of the West, conducted by the Dominican Sisters of the Congregation of the Most Holy Rosary, better known as the Sinsinawa Dominicans. It is the author's hope that the study will contribute in some small way to a more comprehensive study of the Catholic schools of the West and that it will enlist interest in their problems and a desire to answer their challenge.
