Abstract
Apparently originally written and delivered in 1898 by Legouvé, who died in 1903. Thils is a loving and, from my short perusal, insightful view of La Fontaine. La Fontaine is a perennial favorite because he is "poète comique, il amuse; poète lyrique, il enchante; moraliste pratique, il conseille; moraliste évangelique, il éleve." Legouvé makes his case by examining a fable that illustrates it well, OR. There is an inscription dated 1942 on the first page; I cannot make out the signature or the message. 22 pages. 7⅜" x 10¾".
