In the front of the book is a handwritten note that reads "Lue Creighton; Dayton Ohio; Jan 23rd 1867" There is a type card in the front of the book that reads "Mrs. Mary Lucretia Creighton’s book: Lucile, by Owen Meredith. She was the wife of Mr. Edward Creighton, and in her will bequeathed $100,000 for the founding of what is now Creighton University,”
