Abstract
Here is a curiosity. This booklet is slightly smaller and more fragile than another already in the collection. This copy's cover says that it is from Éditions Marcus, whereas that other copy is from " Éditions Jean Picot" and belongs to a series "Recueils Jean Picot." Both are dated 1947. The contents and pagination are identical, and the variations in typeface for fable titles are identical. Might Marcus have bought out Jean Picot? We have a third pamphlet bought with the two "Éditions Marcus" booklets, and it is dated 1950 and is from Éditions Marcus. An online Marcus version is dated 1948. I find Marcus editions available online dating back to 1948. This copy, No 2, is partner to No 1 in the same format and found at the same time from the same source on Ebay. That No 1 is likewise very similar to a larger copy of No 1 marked "Editions Jean Picot." As I wrote of that larger Jean Picot No 2, the first fourteen of this pamphlet's fifteen fables are from La Fontaine. They include MM, FC, LM, OR, FS, GGE, WS, and TMCM. The fifteenth, "Le vacher et le garde chasse," is Florian I 11.
