Abstract

The Legend of Del Camino: The origin of Del Camino has been lost through time, but one charming legen remains. In a small obscure town in Mexico many years ago, there was a festival every year in honor of their Blessed Virgin. They would carry the statue of Mary throughout the town singing songs and praising her. Everyone dressed in their finery and much gaiety prevailed. One year they grew tired of carrying the heavy statue. Strangely enough they noticed a beautiful Mexican peasant woman dressed in the traditional Mexican clothes and wearing a Mexican sombrero in their midst. Now everyone knew each other and all wondered who she might be. It was finally revealed that she was the Blessed Virgin who had come down among them in honor of the festival. Naturally, they have never since failed to carry her statue. She is the patroness saint of the road.
