Abstract

The oximes represent an important group of compounds in the research field of organic chemistry. They can "be prepared either by the reaction of the carbonyl group with hydroxylamine or by the reaction of nitrous acid or nitrous acid esters on compounds containing reactive methylene groups. These isonitroso compounds rearrange to oximes. |Oximes are most often used for purposes of preparing 1,2 dike to compounds. Thus the hydrolysis of Nitroso methyl ethyl ketone gives biacetyl, which is important in the preparation of perfumes. Also diisonitro-soacetone is important as the starting material for the production of diamino acetone, which in turn is used for the imidazole synthesis.' A special use of isonitroso ketone consists of their condensation to isatin and isatin derivatives.
