Abstract

In the United States, there are approximately 8.1 million people who are undiagnosed as diabetics and 21 million people who have been diagnosed (CDC, 2014). Individuals may not understand or know their personal risk factors for diabetes. The American Diabetes Association (2015) recommends screening on individuals with risk factors for diabetes and/or for those over the age of 45. Access to individual screenings can be challenging to many individuals, leaving individuals at risk unaware.|Corporate screenings, as we are testing in this study, would bridge the gap from individual screenings to the corporate sector. If individuals are provided the opportunity and resources to be screened while at work, there is the potential to identify individuals at risk or needing immediate follow up with a healthcare provider. Not only would this benefit the employees, and possibly increase quality of life for individuals, companies gain the potential benefit of increased productivity and decreased insurance claims.
