This is the second of two thick volumes apparently giving a sampling of Grandville's extensive work. I include it in the collection not because it illustrates fables -- it does not -- but because it is the companion volume of a two-volume set in which the other volume does illustrate fables. Paging through this volume is a delight! Grandville's wit jumps off the page! The cover of this second volume's dust-jacket shows both an angelic cat and a devilish cat pulling at a young woman cat. The background suggests the industrial city. An open valise lies on the ground.
