Abstract

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. With the numbers of diagnosed skin cancers increasing and a chronic shortage of dermatologists, it is important for primary care providers to improve skin lesion identification. A survey made available to nurse practitioners through the Nurse Practitioner Association of South Dakota (NPASD) will assess nurse practitioner’s knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to skin cancer identification and prevention education. This survey will help provide information to help identify where further education may be needed.
