Abstract

A little sleuthing on the web turned up an article on Jewish publishers in the 1920s in Berlin. I had just guessed 1920 as an approximate date for this well-worn book. Its front cover features a black-and-white presentation of Krylov in an outdoor setting surrounded by animals. Inside it has, apparently, a long life of Krylov after a frontispiece portrait. There are indeed frequent illustrations. Typical of them might be "Quartet" on 103 and "The Gardener and the Bear" on 117. There is an AI at the end. Jewish Russian Germany in 1920: fascinating!
